Does SQLFire currently provide support for geospatial query operators and spatial indexing similar to that provided by PostgreSQL / PostGIS (or Oracle Spatial)?
Our use cases often call for querying relational datastores using spatial indexes. Both Oracle Spatial and PostGIS are used depending on the subsystem.
In considering moving some of these use cases to an in-memory grid like SQLFire or GemFire, we need to consider how to support spatial operators and spatial indexes. There are several good Java spatial libraries including one from ESRI called Geometry API for Java.
