2V0-602 Foundations 6.5 Exam - What is a good Cert Guide

What's up guys!

I have completed the "VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V6.5]" live online course and am ready to move forward with prepping for the Foundations 6.5 exam (2V0-602), but in need of some good materials.

I don't see that there is a 2V0-602, just the vSphere Foundations 6 Exam Guide here: vSphere 6 Foundations Exam Official Cert Guide (Exam #2V0-620): VMware Certified Professional 6 by Bill Ferguson - Books…

Should I get this book even though it may not have 6.5 features?

Any recommendations would be perfect!

Thank you all!

Unable to Connect to VCSA - Unknown Connection Error (503 Server Unavailable)

Looking for reasons why I would no longer be able to connect to my VCSA.

Using the vSphere client, I can no longer access my VCSA. I can also not access it via the web interface. I can use the vSphere client to login to the host that the VCSA lives and from there can view the screen of the VCSA. VMWare vCenter Server Appliance 6.0.0.20000. I can reboot and shutdown, but that is about all.

I see an IP Address, Gateway and DNS Servers... they are all correct.

When I try logging into the VCSA via the vSphere client, the result is:

When I try logging into the web interface, the result is:

503 Service Unavailable (Failed to connect to endpoint: [N7Vmacore4Http16LocalServiceSpecE:0x7f69016a8aa0] _serverNamespace = /vsphere-client _isRedirect = false _port = 9090)

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Mouse click not working Workstation Pro 14.1.1 build - 7528167

This was working prior to a PC upgrade. I went from a Asrock z77 Extreme 4 motherboard with 16GB of memory and an Intel i5 3570k, to a Gigabyte Z370XP SLI motherboard 16GB of memory and an Intel i7 8700. I transferred my drives, did a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro Version 1709 (OS Build 16299.251), My VMs reside on a secondary storage drive so I opened them in workstation. I have tried reinstalling VMware Workstation, recreating the preferences.ini located in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\VMware\, recreating the virtual machine and reinstalling vmware tools. I checked another VM and encounter the same issue. So I can CTRL+ALT to break input to the host and it will allow me to click one time, after that it acts as if the mouse buttons are not working. Has anyone ran into this or does anyone have anything I can try? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Certificate issues with client

Hi,

Running Horizon Client 4.7 and I noticed that when I connect internally with it (I am on a desktop), I get the certificate error in the top left corner saying “the identity of this server was not verified”.  Investigating a little more and everything (HTML and client) works fine from the outside (tried on notebook and smartphones).  Inside HTML works fine and it seems only some clients are seeing issues with the certificate. I tried re-installing the client and no luck.  I have logged in on another machine and everything is fine there.  Any ideas why some desktops have this problem?

Issue after multiple host failure with RVC

One of my clients had 3 out of 10 hosts fail with a purple screen after applying the latest dell 5.5 update.

We have recovered the systems and as you would guess vsan is doing a major rebuild (around 122 TBs). 5 hours into that rebuild, rvc has stopped working for a set of commands (see below).  Any idea on how to bring these back to life? On a side note, the resync is still happening as I can see it for individual guests.

Thanks

Linux RH7.4, GPU, Failed to Start VMWareBlastserver

Hello All,

I have installed a Linux VM, with GPU's.  The VM came up fine when I build it out of the box, Graphics was working fine with the nouveu drivers, then I started to proceed to blacklist the nouveu drive, which was successful and I load the Nvidia Drivers (Nvidia-grid-Linux-x86_64-390.42).  This load fine when is typed in nvidia-smi.  When I rebooted the system, the system did not come up in graphical mode. It said no screens found.  I proceeded to install the VMware-horizonagent-linux-7.4.0 software, it installed just fine.  I pointed the VM to the nvidia license server and it got a license.  When I try to connect using blast (10ZIG client).  I get the following errors on my viewagen-debug-log.  Can any of you please help me understand what I may be doing wrong?

Thanks,

Judy

Bluetooth device showing in VM guest even after disabling Bluetooth Sharing

$

Hi all,

I am running the following setup:

Host: Windows 10

VMWare Workstation Pro 14.1

Guest: Ubuntu 17.10

I have a USB Bluetooth controller (device) on my laptop, controlled by my Windows Host, that I do not want to share with the VM. I have disabled "Share Bluetooth devices with the virtual machine" and I of course do not connect the actual USB device to the VM, which goes by the name of "Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R)".

The issue is that the Bluetooth device is still being found by both my Windows host and Ubuntu guest, which should not be the case since I have disabled the option to do so.

Any ideas on why this could be the case?

Thanks in advance.

vRealize appliance connectivity issue with my server Iaas

$

Hello everyone,

I'm a junior cloud architect and I'm deploying vRealize Automation for a Proof of Concept. I already deploy the appliance on my vCenter but during the configuration with the wizzard from Prerequisite checker step, it shows: .

And when i click run button for check the prerequisites in the Iaas server, it never show the list of prerequisites for the Iaas server.

It stucks on "Waiting for host to trigger prerequisite check".

If i can't know if my Iaas server meet all the requirements, i can't take the risk to pursue the installation, it will fail.

Thank's for the interrest.

Can't Synchronize/Reconnect ESXi Host in vCenter

My environment is ESXi 6.0 and vCenter 6.0.  I recently noted an ESXi host in my vCenter environment had a warning (not responding).  The event log shows Error Cannot synchronize host.  I also cannot login to the host using the vSphere client or web client using the root login.  After a bit of poking around, I noted the host was deleted from my DNS server.  I've since re-added the host to the DNS server.  I have also selected the host in vCenter and clicked Connect (right-click -> Connection -> Connect).  At this point the Reconnect host task runs but does not progress beyond 0%.  It stays here for upwards of 20-30 minutes until it finally times out.  I'm not sure if this is DNS related.  I'm trying to avoid restarting the ESXi host for two reasons; a) my user's Domain Controller and Horizon View server are located on this host and restarting would cause interruption and b) because I cannot login to the host console, I'm not sure if I'll be able to restart the DC and View VMs after the host comes back up.  Also I'm not sure if restarting the host will even correct this issue.  Currently all the VMs on the host are up, accessible, and running fine, but it is disconnected from vCenter.  How can I reconnect the host to vCenter given the information provided above?  How can I regain login access to the host with the root login using vSphere?  It should also be noted that I can login to the host directly via KVM and access the Shell.  Everything appears to be configured fine in the Shell.  However, the KVM access runs extremely slow and I was also wondering if full System Event Logs (SEL) might be attributing to any of this and/or how to clear the event logs.

Upgrade vRealize Automation 7.3.0 to 7.4 observations

We did a dry run upgrade of our Dev minimal install environment from 7.3-7.4.

This DEV environment was a fresh 7.3 build 6 months ago.

Initial identified issue was vRO stopped logging on workflows, which was resolved by the following (thank you poster).

https://communities.vmware.com/message/2762334#2762334

The upgrade proceeded to run extremely slow for about a day, before grenading itself.

The catalina.out filled itself to 5+GB, before blowing out the /storage/log partition on the appliance.

Deleted the catalina.out and rebooted.

Everything got ugly after that...

rabbitmq wouldn't start

composition-service - com.vmware.csp.component.cafe.composition wouldn't start.

Environment was fubar'd, had to roll back iaas and vra and databases.

Anyone have similar experiences?

Export Users, Pools, and VDI Description to CSV

Hello,

I think my title says it all.  I am very new with VMware and I was tasked to work on a project to gather the following information

UserName

Name

VDI Pool

VDI machine Description (Ram, CPU, Disk Space)

We are using vSphere 6.0

I am not sure if this is even possible, I wrote a PowerShell code to obtain the Users, VDI Groups and it works great, the information comes mainly from Active Directory, but i need to find a way to obtain the VDI Machine Description per user.

I was wondering if someone can help me with that.

I was able to find a way to get UserNames and VDI machines from VMWare Horizon View Admin, (we use VMware Horizon View 5.3), but the VDI description is still missing.

We would like to know how many people use 4GB Ram, 8, or 16, same with CPU, and Disk.. ETC.

I was able to get the information from the NON PERSISTENT VDI, but it is hard to find it from the PERSISTENT VDI, because each VDI can be different..

Thanks!

Workstation 12.5.9 Stops working, BEX Error

$

About three days ago my Workstation application started crashing with an error saying "VMWare Workstation has stopped working" at which point it would shut down. It happens most often when when starting a guest session or when shutting it down, but it happens in the middle of a session too. I currently have four different images, two or which are running Win XP, the others are Win 7, 32 and 64 bits and I have been using them without a glitch about a year or more. This problem began around the same time my GoToMeeting was updated and it may have started after Java was updated too, but I am not sure. Both the GoToMeeting and the Java updates were pushed by our IT department. My Jave is version 8 update 91.

This started happening with Workstation version 12.5.2. I tried updating to 12.5.9 to see if the problem would go away, but it didn't help. My laptop is running Windows 7 64bit and my Workstation is currently version 12.5.9.28553. Haven't been able to figure out the problem.

I am learning ipfix and found a cmd like this: "tshark -r ipfix.cap -n -d udp.port==4379,cflow -O cflow." What the cflow means here? I was also told to filter cflow if i use wireshark in Windows.

Using a mouse in Catia with Blast Extreme. Cant rotate an object

Cannot select an object and rotate in Catia when using Blast Extreme.

the mouse works fine otherwise, but selecting the middle wheel and right click does not work.

But when using PCoIP everthing works just fine, i can rotate objects in Catia.

Something to do with the middle mouse button and right click selection not working with Blast Extreme.

What am I doing wrong?

Probably something I missed with a configuration of the zero client, group policy or regedit.

Thanks!

Using NSX alone?

$

Hello all,

I am given a task to set up some test lab with NSX. I have some general doubts, could the NSX be used alone, i.e. without the esxi / vCenter server? or has to be coupled with them if I want to use it?

And secondly, I know the vsphere is used for managing cluster. But our resource right now would be only one machine. Is it possible to set up a test lab with that? I am thinking of using the vm workstation to bring up many instances of the exsi hosts. Is this feasible?

Sorry if these appear to be silly questions. We are really new to this now.

And many thanks!

Workstation Player 14: Passing keystrokes directly to host

$

I have a multimedia keyboard that has playback controls, and a volume knob. During the day I have music playing in the host that I often want to pause & resume when working in a VM. I also occasionally need to adjust the volume. Currently I have to preface any interaction with these controls with a Ctrl+Alt key sequence to pass them through to the host.

Is there a way to configure the VM so that they will always be handled by the host?
