Hi,
I have a physical machine running Windows Server 2012 (64 bit).
I used VMware Converter 5.5.2 (the latest version afaik) to make a p2v of the machine.
Everything worked without problems.
Then, when I try to play the resulted virtual machine using VMWare Player 6.0.3, (almost) nothing happens: a black screen appears for some seconds and then the player returns to the virtual machines selection screen. Only a little box appears in the low-right corner of the player windows: it says that "no 3D support is available from the host" (if I'm not wrong, a standard message that always appears when a virtual machine runs for the fist time).
My question:
is there any limitation running a 2012 Server virtualized machine on VMWare Player?
Do I have to buy a license of the Plus version?
If not, what's the problem?
I tried to run a virtualized Windows Server 2003 (32bit) using the same tools on the same host and everything works fine.
The source machine is a Xeon X3430, 12Gb RAM, 2 partitions of 50Gb and 786Gb.
I tweaked the resulting vmx to set 8Gb of RAM and disconnecting all the ethernet interfaces.
The host machine is a Core i3-3220, 16Gb RAM and 4Tb disk space running Windows 7 64-bit.
Thanks in advance.
