Connection to vSphere VMs stop working after a while

Started happening with Fusion 11.5 and my vSphere 6.7 installation.  I don't recall having similar problems with earlier version.

 

Very easy to reproduce:

  1. Connect to VCSA server using Fusion.
  2. Connect to any VM by double-clicking on its name.
  3. The window opens with the selected VM's screen, e.g., a Windows 10 machine.
  4. Wait a few minutes (haven't timed it, but something around 5 mins or so).

 

Observed results:

  1. Coming back to my Mac, click inside the VM window.
  2. Screen is completely unresponsive.
  3. Double-clicking on VM name inside the VCSA VM list yields same result.
  4. Right-click on VCSA server name, and click "Refresh".
  5. Double-click on VM, then live connection to VM is restored.

 

Expected results:

  1. Connection to VM stays alive with no interruption.

How to change the SSL Cert on vCenter Server Appliance Manager portal (https://fqdn:5480)?

I implemented the "Replacing vSphere 6.0 certificates using VMCA as a Subordinate CA" procedure, and most all of the certificates now reflect "valid" with our Windows CA chain, except the web portal to the Appliance Manager (ala- https://fqdn:5480). This certificate remains self-signed, and IE/Chrome don't allow exceptions (Firefox does).

 

So how does one get this certificate replaced with VMCA (or a Windows CA) issued certificate?

VMware Workstation 15.5.1: graphics problems in Windows XP Pro.

Good day to all! I have not encountered such a problem yet, I do not know what to do. I have installed operating system Linux Debian 10.2 with the working environment of Xfce 4.14 and VMware Workstation 15.5.1 is installed. As usual, I created a virtual machine with MS Windows XP Pro. The installation went smoothly, everything works, the screen is set to 1920x1080 24 bits. But as soon as I install vmtool and restart WinXP, the screen settings take the form of 640x480 with 4 bits. And I can not change these settings. And so every time when I try to install vmtool. What could be the problem? Has anyone come across this?

 

Just in case, this is my configuration:

- AMD Ryzen 7 2700X

- Gigabyte B450 Gaming X

- nVidia GeForce RTX2060 (latest driver v430.64)

- 32 Gb RAM

- Linux Debian 10.2 (x64)

- VMware Workstation Pro 15.5.1

But the problem should not be in the equipment...

Failed to import OVA with ISO attached on an HTTP server using OVFTool 4.3

When I tried to use OVFTool 4.3 to import the OVA with an ISO attached that is on an HTTP server, it always failed with message:

Error: File (Ubuntu-file1.iso) could not be found.

This is my command:

ovftool \

     --X:logFile=/tmp/ovftool_503.log --X:logLevel=verbose --datastore="datastore1" \

     --noSSLVerify --acceptAllEulas --name="UbuntuWithCd" --diskMode=thin \

     "http://192.168.1.1:8000/vm/Ubuntu_with_cd.ova" \

     "vi://root:Compaq123@192.168.1.2"

Since the OVA is just a tar file, so I use `tar -tf` to check the file and it shows that the ISO file is ordered before the VMDK:

$ tar -tf Ubuntu_with_cd.ova

Ubuntu.ovf

Ubuntu.mf

Ubuntu-file1.iso

Ubuntu-disk1.vmdk

Also, based on the log, OVFTool seems to shows that it tries to download the VMDK first. So, I untar the original OVA and tar it again, with VMDK before ISO:

$ tar -tf Ubuntu_with_cd_vmdk_before_iso.ova
Ubuntu.ovf
Ubuntu.mf

Ubuntu-disk1.vmdk

Ubuntu-file1.iso

and then the import command succeeded. I think this is a bug?

Hello professionals, I like to ask a question as I am worried about my future studies. I am currently working as a Developer (Python and Django) at Dubai logo design agency, it is a reputed and renown company offering great career building opportunities. But as their name, it is a pure design company so I cannot flourish my coding and software engineering profile in this company. I want to be a software architect or agile head managing development team. So, VMWare certifications are a good option for making my profile heavy and acceptable for such position. but I a not sure to which one I should get. Any pieces of advice from the professionals of the relevant industry are highly needed and appreciated. Thanks

Issue running an exe file with arguments on multiple virtual machines in a parallel way

Hi All,

 

I'm trying to run a .exe file with parameters on multiple virtual machines in parallel fashion. But when I execute the below command on a remote machine, it waits until the job is complete.

 

Is there a better command so that I can execute the exe command on all the virtual machines parallelly.

 

Invoke-Command -ComputerName $IPAddress -Credential $credentials -ScriptBlock {& "C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\scripts\sample.bat"}

 

The sample.bat file has the command with arguments.

Use Windows Session Authentication grayed out in firefox (71) vSphere 6.7

After struggles making the enhanced authentication plugin to work, it is now working on chrome and IE but not in Firefox.

After a lot of research I tried to make exception for vmware-plugin:8094 certificate with no help, and tried every solution I found online- but non of them was explicitly talking about the combination of vSphere 6.7 and Firefox.

 

My problem is that the 'Use Windows Session Authentication' box is grayed out and can't be used..

ESXi datastore sizing question

I installed ESXi 6.7 on a system whose only storage is a 2TB SSD. I see that the datastore occupies all available space left over after the installation. I want the space occupied by the datastore to be much smaller and I want the leftover space simply to be unallocated instead of being dedicated to ESXi. How can I accomplish that? Here's the current partition information:

Error while using an Array of CompositeType as Input parameter for a workflow

I' trying to use a custom object as input parameter for one of my workflows. This object array will be used later as input for one very simple scriptable task:

 

my_input_objects.forEach(    function(my_element) {        System.debug(JSON.stringify(my_element));    }
);

 

As soon as I hit the run button I'm getting this error:

I also noticed a bug on the auto-generated input form element which can be seen in the screenshot.

in an Azure standard offering the setup of ESXi fails with no network adapter found

I'm tinkering around with a nested virtualization setup, ESXi on Azure, and need help.

 

The ESXi setup starts, however, it fails with No Network adapter.

 

I didn't found for affordable home lab purposes any ipmi/bmc/iDRAC/iLO/kubernetesified baremetal-as-a-service offerings. The hardware Azure VM size used is a Standard_E4s_v3 offering. The automated provisioning scripts so far are documented at GitHub - dcasota/vesxi-on-azure-scripts. The netword card presented is a  Mellanox Technologies MT27500/MT27520 Family [ConnectX-3/ConnectX-3 Pro Virtual Function] [15b3:1004].

 

In reference to https://www.mellanox.com/page/products_dyn?product_family=29&mtag=vmware_driver (click on View the list of the latest VMware driver version for Mellanox products) the nic type ConnectX-3 is not officially supported on any VMware ESXi release. From a OEM perspective, https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-network/create-vm-accelerated-networking-powershell describes for an Azure Windows Server VM the use of the ConnectX-3 Ethernetadapter. Hence, it could be possible to get/make nic functionality for an Azure ESXi VM as well.

 

Using the Azure Standard_E4s_v3 offering, the no network adapter issue occurs with

- native ESXi image, latest 6.0, 6.5, 6.7

- customized ESXi 6.0 image using

      - older Mellanox driver MEL-mlnx-3.15.5.5-offline_bundle-4038025.zip and MLNX-OFED-ESX-1.8.2.5-10EM-600.0.0.2494585.zip

- customized ESXi 6.5 image using

      - a recipe description of removing first the softwarepackages net-e1000e, net-mlx4-en, net-mlx4-core, nmlx4-core, nmlx4-en, nmlx4-rdma and

        adding afterwards the Mellanox ConnectX-3 offline bundle 3.16.11.10, and the net-tulip driver, too.

        syslinux.cfg and boot.cfg were modified to use the advanced settings iovDisableIR=TRUE ignoreHeadless=TRUE noIOMMU noipmiEnabled

        See setup output protocol attached: The Mellanox network adapter wasn't loaded (follow-up issues lvmdriver failed to load & nfs41client failed to load).

 

Any study work suggestions?

Horizon 7.2: linked clones pool not created

Hello,

 

I work with automatic pool of VMs (linked clones). I use this for more than 2 years now with no problem, but since sunday when I want to create a new pool of VMs, the directory where my VMs will be created is created, but that's all, it remains empty. No VMs created, no errors message, no task running. Nothing.

Even in Vsphere, I cannot see my master being cloned as it should be normally.

 

I've checked my composer server everything is ok, I try to reboot it with no effect.

 

I had a problem before that on one of my datastore that has some corrupted path on it (due to a major power failure on my SAN), but it has been solved and had no effect on recreating pools of VMs (this problem happens on november, and I've recomposed a pool last week).

 

I still have a working pool with all my users on it, this pool is working well and VMs are actualizing after every deconnexion with no problem, so I think my composer is not the problem.

 

I don't understand where the problem is, any idea ?

PCoIP working, but Blast failing

Our environment is View 7.0.3 with the UAGs instead of security servers.  It's a DR environment so it's not used that much, BUT, the Blast connection is not working. 

 

Using the client, I CAN connect just fine.  But, when I hit the browser, and try to connect, it errors out.

 

The logs show the request for a machine, the allocation of a machine and it even shows the user logged in, BUT, the desktop never shows and I just get booted from the session.

 

I'm confused as to where to start troubleshooting, since it all appears to be working and the logs show it's working.

 

Any ideas on where I can start looking for my problem? 

 

I've already rebooted the UAGs.

Circa ogni mese l'accesso da browser non funziona nonostante la password sia corretta. Riesco ad accedere solo dopo un riavvio della macchina. Qualcuno ha avuto lo stesso problema ?
