Hi,
we are trying to import an exported VM from another ESXi server (6.7) that is gettin stuck at 75%. we have enough space free on the storage and resouces are also available on the destination host (ESXi 6.7 is a member of vcenter 6.7).
please help, how to find out what is the issue and how to resolve it?

I am working on Vmware horizon 7.9, my master image is windows 10 LTSB and using linked-clone technology to provision VDI.
Am using dell thin client 5070 with wyse management suite, and VDIs are deployed on vSAN.
Am using VMware blast protocol and some local video files are running very poor. it's stucking frame by frame.
Any once can help which is the best protocol for video optimization and performance

Does vSphere 6.5 support SQL Server 2014 FCI on a Windows 2016 or 2019 cluster in a CAB configuration?
I found article 2147661 but it does not mention running SQL Server 2014 FCI on a Windows 2016 or 2019. Microsoft support this configuration but so far it appears as though VMware does not.

Unter Ubuntu 19.10 ist es mir weder gelungen VMWarePlayer noch Workstation zu starten.

Let's say you want to get Alert for all 3 Conditions
Alarm rule 1 = above 75% warning
Alarm rule 2 = above 90% critical
Reset Rule 1 = below 75% ok
It seems once Load jump > 90% then the Email alert just tells "Warning" but with > 90%
i think the Condition check is wrong. i think it should be
Alarm rule 1 = > 75% < 90% warning
Alarm rule 2 = >90% critical
Reset Rule 1 = below 75% ok
Anything special with Alerts?

Hello,
We recently upgraded our vCenter and our ESXi hosts to 6.7 U3.
We noticed that the SEAT DB was filling up quite fast.
Last week stats:
Somehow we are getting a lot more events compared to pre-upgrade (6.5).
To avoid reaching 100% usage, I purged some of the biggest event tables in VCSA and I changed all statistics level to level 1 and changed retention to 30 days (default settings).
I investigated and found that our vCenter is logging plenty of "Host hardware sensor state" events:
These events are new and we didn't have them pre-upgrade.
I found other people having the same issue:

I created a ticket at VMware support. I'm waiting for an agent to contact me.
Meanwhile, does anyone else experience this?
Do you have a trick to stop these specific "Host hardware sensor state" events from being generated?

When I go to Rightsizing and select "Oversized VMs" , there is no option to export the list. Does someone know of a way to export the list of oversized VMs and recommendations to an excel doc, CSV, PDF, etc?

I’m most of the way through rebuilding my home lab and have swapped to Cisco UCS M4 generation gear and am also using UCS manager.
I’m continuing to run VMWare vSAN so tracked down the required UCSB-MRAID12G-HE controllers for my B200M4 blades.
The environment is up and running UCS wise and I’m about to start the VMware config and decided to check the controller and disk queue lengths.
The controller is listed in esxtop as 896 depth, which is correct, by the Cisco SAS SSDs attached to it are only reporting a depth of 64.
I'm using the Cisco ESXi 6.7 U3 custom ISO, and my firmware versions are all the latest release of 4g.
The Cisco SAS SSDs are part numbers:
UCS-SD400G12S4-EP
UCS-SD16TB12S4-EP
All the hardware is on the vSAN HCL and with the exception of the “capacity” drive my setup essentially mirrors the B200M4 AF4 vSAN ready nodes setup.
Does the LSI controller in the “HE” only allow a depth of 64 to drives (instead of the expected 256 depth), or are these drives limited show how?
Any suggestions welcome!

We are starting to use VMs for a few MS SQL always on availability groups/clusters. The clusters/server/SQL are setup and working, but I want to create an "internal" network for the cluster traffic only. I know how to do this in the physical world, and I am sure things can be setup the same in the virtual world. My question is about creating a cluster only network in vCenter so that the cluster traffic, from these two virtual SQL servers, never leaves the vSwitch. I have 16 hosts in a cluster running ESXi v6.0U3, the vCenter is the same version and I am using a virtual distributed switch.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Ensure that Reverse lookup is implemented using PTR records.
Ensure the network and portgroup the vCenter Server Appliance is deployed to can reach a DNS Server.

Hello everyone, when I install VMWare fusion on my MacBook Pro, I cannot launch it. When I press the icon to launch it, it opens for 1/2 seconds and then shuts off, so there is nothing I can do, someone would know how to fix this problem please?

I added a host to vcenter and went to select it by browsing the inventory to select a host object when starting my workflow. Host was available to select any everything was fine.
The workflow failed after removing the host from vcenter so I added the host back to vcenter manually so I could retry my workflow.
Now when I try to rerun the workflow the host isn't showing up inventory. In the code I can do a cluster.host and I see the host in there but I can't select it . If I go to the inventory view and drill down i don't see the host their either. If I wait several hours eventually the host will appear.
This is vRO 7.6 (embedded in vra) and the vcenter plugin version is 6.5.0.12799420.
Is there anything i can do to force a refresh (right click > reload doesn't do anything)?

I am new vmware and trying to set up a test lab enviroment. I have installed and set up the sphere server. I cannot add the esxi host as I am using a free licence. it comes up with License not available to perform the operation.The VMware vSphere 6 Hypervisor license for "Host" xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx does not include "vCenter agent for VMware host". Upgrade the license.
I have looked up to Kb Article and it says If an ESXi host is licensed with the free version of the license key, you cannot add it to vCenter Server. This license does not contain the VirtualCenter Agent, which is necessary to manage a host with vCenter Server. This feature remains locked as long as the host is licensed with the free version of the license key.
Is there a way to get around this? How can I test all the new features of vsphere and esxi 6 in a lab environment?

Hi all,
In the process of shrinking my image file of WINDOWS 10 I was unable to open VMWare Tools, more specifically the vm icon in the system tray shows but only redirects to the About VMWare window - VMWare tools can also not be found under the control panel. It is updated to the version of 10.1.6 and I have already tried to completely remove and reinstall it.
How can I run/reinstall VMWare tools properly, in order to continue the shrink process?

I exported a new ova using the ovftool and utilised the --eula@=<my_license_file> option. Our license file is rather large. The new ova deploys perfectly using Deploy OVF Template in the vSphere Web Client (Flash) version. It didn't work using Deploy OVF Template in the vSphere Client (HTML5).
Digging a little further I soon realised that the size of the license agreement dictated whether it worked or not in vSphere Client (HTML5). As people know the license agreement gets added to the ovf descriptor file, so it's likely the size of the descriptor file that is at fault.
As a rough estimate, any ovf descriptor file over 210000 bytes prevents (at least in my experiments) Deploy OVT Template working in vSphere Client (HTML5). When I start deleting lines from the embedded license file in the ovf descriptor file, the Deploy OVF Template works as expected in the vSphere Client (HTML5).
In normal circumstance when a user finishes the Deploy OVF Template wizard, they should see 2 running tasks:
- Import OVF package
- Deploy OVF template
If using a large descriptor file (due to large embedded license) the Import OVF template task doesn't start and eventually times out in the vSphere Client (HTML5).
I haven't seen this limitation on the descriptor file documented anywhere, and if there is a limitation maybe the vSphere Client (HTML5) should throw a validation warning/error. At the moment, the user gets nothing except a timeout. I got similar results in Chrome and Firefox.
I have attached a loremipsum license.txt file people can use. As mentioned it will work well in the Web Client (Flash), not so well in the HTML client.
